Dubai, UAE – June 20, 2025 — In a major leadership move, Visa has announced the appointment of Tareq Muhmood as Regional President for Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East, and Africa (CEMEA). This region is one of Visa’s most dynamic and fast-growing, covering more than 86 markets and supported by over 1,800 clients across 23 local offices.
Bringing Three Decades of Global Experience
With a career spanning over 30 years in banking and payments, Muhmood is no stranger to navigating complex, high-growth markets. He previously led Value-Added Services for Visa Europe from London and joined Visa in 2019 as Group Country Manager for Southeast Asia, based in Singapore. Before Visa, his leadership experience included senior roles at Ahli United Bank, ANZ, and HSBC.
Now based in Dubai, Muhmood takes on the CEMEA leadership effective immediately, reporting to Oliver Jenkyn, Visa’s Group President of Global Markets.
A Strategic Shift with a Vision for Growth
Tareq Muhmood steps into the role following the transition of Andrew Torre, who has moved on to lead Visa’s rapidly expanding Value-Added Services division—now a $9 billion global business.
Speaking about the appointment, Oliver Jenkyn expressed confidence in the new leadership:
“Tareq brings a rare combination of global insight, regional experience, and a strong client-first approach. He’s exactly the kind of leader we need to continue accelerating digital payments and innovation across CEMEA.”
Leading the Future of Digital Payments
Excited about his new role, Muhmood shared his vision for the region:
“It’s a great honor to lead the CEMEA region. Having spent a significant part of my career here, I see immense potential to further scale digital payments and money movement. I look forward to working with our partners to drive growth, inclusion, and innovation across these incredibly diverse markets.”
